Family Art Club

Who: Open to all children – 3 and up 

When: (5) Wednesdays- 7pm, April 21-May 19th

Where: In-person or At-Home

Attire: comfy clothing, suited for painting; mask 

 

Overview

Each workshop is based on a featured style, artist or technique. Students will learn about the artist, watch a brief project demonstration, and have individual hands-on time to create. Projects range in difficulty but all are manageable. The focus in on the creative process! You will likely complete most projects on your own time. The Creativity Workshop Gallery will display your artwork in CUMC’s Grand Hallway May 23-28th.

Materials will be provided for those attending.

Class Project: Creating a picture of sunflower using paper, paint and tissue paper

Book: Van Gogh & the Sunflowers by Laurence Anholt 

Extra: Sunflower seeds for planting 

 

Wednesday, April 28, 7pm 

Class project: We will be doing a self-portrait 

Book: Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World by Laurence Anholt 

Extra: Magic color scratch Skeleton 

 

Wednesday, May 5, 7pm 

Class Project: Making a jungle scene by cutting out paper and gluing down 

Book: Henri Rousseau: Activities for Kids by Marisa Boan 

Extra: Jungle Animal figure 

 

Wednesday, May 12, 7pm 

Class Project: We will be creating 3D glue art of Pacific Northwest Art 

Book: A Trickster Tale from the Pacific Northwest, by Gerald McDermott 

Extra: Totem pole cookie 

 

Wednesday, May 19, 7pm 

Class Project: Creating an animal piece of art in the style of Franz Marc 

Book: The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Eric Carle 

Extra: Blue Horse figure
